Former President Barack Obama made an unannounced campaign stop at a field office in Pittsburgh and called on Black man specifically as the Presidential election between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump draws closer.
Obama issued a call to action to Black men during his speech.
“You’re coming up with all kinds of reasons and excuses; I’ve got a problem with that,” Obama said, according to The Hill. “Because part of it makes me think — and I’m speaking to men directly — part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president, and you’re coming up with other alternatives and other reasons for that.”
Harris has surpassed Trump with women, but she is underperforming with Latino men and Black men, which were two voting blocs key to Obama’s rise to the Presidency, and recent polls show that both Joe Biden and Hilary Clinton were ahead of Harris with those groups when they ran in 2016 and 2020.
